Oh, Mister. |
A blog dedicated to discussing sexism in media, fandom, poetry, and the advancement of socialist propaganda. Basically, I just roll this way. |
Anonymous asked: "Hope you enjoyed my brief descent into girly fanishness." Why is it only girls are allowed to paint up their nails?
If you’re trying to quote me, you’re.. failing, as I don’t recall ever having written that. It doesn’t even sound like the way I write.
As for that, I can’t give you a comprehensive answer, but again, it has to do with sexism against women. Women are expected and required by society to make themselves “pretty,” and wearing nail polish is one of the expected ways for women to do this. Because wearing nail polish is considered something that women do, it is considered negative/bad if a man does it — because doing so makes them “like a girl/woman”.
It’s a pattern, really. Look how many things in society men are discouraged from doing simply because of the cultural/societal belief that those things are feminine, and that feminine things are automatically bad/lesser and shouldn’t be done by men. Seriously.
If you’re trying to imply, then, that this has something to do with the mythical concept of “sexism against men”.. well, you barked up the wrong tree in the wrong goddamn forest on the wrong side of the goddamn world, buddy.
